In Q1, our classes will focus on Drone Legends STEM Fundamentals, an engaging and hands-on program designed for 4th–8th grade students and their parents. This curriculum introduces young learners to drone technology, flight principles, and problem-solving through STEM-based activities. Parents are encouraged to participate alongside their children, fostering a collaborative learning experience that builds confidence in both technical skills and critical thinking. Through interactive challenges and guided exploration, students will gain a strong foundation in drone operations while developing teamwork and creativity. .
Drone Legends - STEM Fundamentals
The Franklin Center for Innovation’s Drone Flight School was recently featured on KET, highlighting its role in advancing drone education and workforce development. The segment showcased how the program equips students with essential skills in drone piloting, safety protocols, and industry applications. With a strong emphasis on hands-on learning, the school provides training that prepares students for careers in industries such as agriculture, public safety, and infrastructure inspection. The KET feature underscored the center’s commitment to innovation and workforce readiness, demonstrating how its curriculum aligns with the growing demand for skilled drone operators
Drone Flight School is excited to partner with Franklin County Schools to bring cutting-edge STEM education to students through the Drone Legends: Egyptians Expedition block coding simulator. This collaboration will give students hands-on experience programming virtual drones to navigate ancient Egyptian landscapes, solving challenges that blend history, engineering, and computational thinking. By integrating this engaging simulation into the curriculum, students will develop critical problem-solving skills, enhance their understanding of real-world drone applications, and lay the foundation for future careers in aviation, robotics, and technology. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to innovation in education, inspiring the next generation of drone pilots and engineers.
In Q2, we shift our focus to preparing students ages 15 and up for the FAA Part 107 certification, which is required for commercial drone pilots. This course provides in-depth instruction on airspace regulations, weather patterns, flight safety, and legal responsibilities, ensuring students are fully equipped to pass the exam. Whether aspiring to careers in aerial photography, surveying, or drone-based business ventures, participants will receive expert guidance and practical insights to navigate the path toward professional certification.
In Q3 and Q4, our focus shifts to recruiting new students and building an 8th–12th grade drone racing league. This initiative will provide students with an exciting opportunity to apply their drone piloting skills in a fast-paced, competitive environment. Through structured training sessions, team-building exercises, and real-world racing challenges, participants will refine their flight techniques, learn advanced maneuvering, and develop strategic problem-solving abilities. By fostering a strong community of young drone enthusiasts, we aim to cultivate leadership, sportsmanship, and a passion for STEM careers in emerging drone technologies.
Drone Legends FPV Initator Program
FIRST PERSON VIEW = REAL WORLD SIMULATION
FPV stands for First-Person View. When piloting the drone, students wear VR goggles, allowing them to see from the drone’s perspective. Unlike traditional drones, which are piloted from the pilot’s ground perspective, FPV offers a viewpoint directly from the drone. This provides an exceptionally immersive experience, leading to more precise flying and heightened accuracy. The outcome is faster reactions and a heightened awareness of the surroundings. That’s why we call it “precision drone pilot training.”
Drone Flight School is launching the Drone Legends drone racing team in Woodford County, bringing an exciting new STEM opportunity to local students. This initiative aims to combine hands-on drone piloting skills with critical thinking, teamwork, and competitive strategy. By providing structured training, access to high-quality racing drones, and expert coaching, the program will prepare students for high-speed races while deepening their understanding of aerodynamics, coding, and real-world drone applications. As interest in drone sports grows nationwide, this team will serve as a launchpad for young pilots eager to compete at regional and national levels.
Beyond the thrill of racing, the Drone Legends team will foster a community of learners passionate about cutting-edge technology. Through organized competitions and practice sessions, students will gain valuable experience in troubleshooting, engineering problem-solving, and precision flying. The team will also strengthen ties with local schools and STEM organizations, inspiring more students to explore career pathways in aviation, robotics, and drone technology. By establishing a strong presence in Woodford County, Drone Flight School is not only developing elite drone racers but also shaping the next generation of tech-savvy innovators.
